After a year without results, Benoît Paire had announced that he had “stopped partying and drinking” before tackling his end of season on the Challenger circuit. In the end, not everything went according to plan as an injury forced him to miss several tournaments before finishing his season in the anonymity of the Interclubs where he did not really shine. But as usual, the Frenchman announced that he would not give up. Down to 180th in the world, Paire will have to go back to the Challenger circuit this season – he will open in Noumea – to find a ranking worthy of the player he once was. A nice goal for the Avignon native who expressed his determination on Instagram. He also announced that he had found a coach for the upcoming season.
“I made 2 rotten years on the circuit I had lost the passion for this sport and when the motivation is no longer there then it is impossible to win matches!!! I have an injury that prevents me from preparing as I would like but I hope to be recovered for the beginning of the new season! My goal will be to find the pleasure and I know that if the pleasure is there then I will find a correct classification! Because yes my ranking is bad and it makes me sad not to start the year with the tournaments I love but I deserve that! So it’s up to me to hang in there and get back as soon as possible! Thank you once again for all your support”
