The CDMX Tennis Showdown 2022 has already confirmed its protagonists. For this year’s edition, Australian Nick Kyrgios and Frenchman Gael Monfils will face each other in an exhibition match on November 9 at the Arena Ciudad de México.
In addition to the singles duel, there will also be a doubles match between the Mexicans Santiago Gonzalez and Henry Lopez and the Colombians Juan Sebastian Cabal and Robert Farah. And there will be a musical finale with Cristian Castro.
Kyrgios is the current world number 20 and is known for his explosive personality. He was a finalist in the last edition of Wimbledon where he lost to Novak Djokovic.
Jose Escalante de la Hidalga, founder of Tennis Showdown, explained that the objective of this event is to bring elite tennis to Mexico and also to consolidate the white sport in our country.
“They are two special players; perhaps the best show we can see is this combination, Nick is of an unexpected game of great athletic talent; sometimes he is a little cheeky on the court, but it is a way to feel the tennis.
“Gael is a very spectacular player, he doesn’t have to try to put on a show, because he has a very special way of playing his tennis, his movements are spectacular,” he told ESPN.
According to the organizers of the event, tickets range from 500 to 5,000 pesos (between 25 and 250 euros) and the doors of the hall will open at 4 pm
