Nick Kyrgios should be able to play in the Australian Open, even though he won’t be playing in a second prep tournament. The 27-year-old withdrew from the Adelaide tournament because of an ankle injury, his manager told Australian media. “A lot of people were upset after he withdrew from the United Cup, but I hope they realize now that the injury is real. I wish more people would ask questions before they put their foot down,” Kyrgios’ manager Daniel Horsfall told Australian media.
Nick Kyrgios’ coach Daniel Horsfall said there was “no doubt” that Kyrgios would compete in the first Grand Slam of the year. The Australian will enter the Australian Open, which begins Jan. 16, without having played singles since the ATP tournament in Tokyo in October. “We are very excited and working every day to make sure we are ready for the Australian Open.”
