Stefanos Tsitsipas at the Australian Open, it is a beautiful relationship that takes another dimension this year ! After a first week of competition rather quiet, then a beautiful battle won in five sets against Jannik Sinner, the semi-finalist 2019, 2021 and 2022 has perfectly mastered this Tuesday the formidable Jiri Lehecka., 6-3, 7-6(2), 6-4. The experience has undoubtedly made the difference. Very convincing, the Greek is in the semi-finals and will have to overcome Karen Khachanov on Thursday, for a second Grand Slam final after Roland Garros 2021.
In a press conference, the Greek did not hide his optimism: 2023 could be his year! “I feel great in tennis. I feel like I haven’t felt this good in a long time. So I would say yes, this could be my year,” he said. “I’ve said it before, I’m a different player, I play differently. When I’m on the court, I don’t have negative thoughts. I come on the court and play my tennis. I feel very good. I’ve been playing good tennis. And when I was talking about the mindset, mine is good. There’s a way of approaching tennis that makes you feel empty after every match. Where every single thing on the court takes a huge effort. And there’s another way of looking at it. You do your job, but you enjoy it and you don’t care if it’s tiring or not. It’s actually quite refreshing. And I think I’m more in that frame of mind lately. I’m happy when I’m on the court, when I’m hitting nice shots and coming out with a good performance. That dynamic that made me hungry and created the desire to play tennis, the desire to accomplish new things.”
