According to the current world number nine, a player “would be accepted” if he came out. “My friends and I, but also the other players on the circuit would have no problem with it, it would be completely normal,” said the American player.

The current ninth player in the world confided on Sunday in an interview with the media Clay Tennis. “I don’t know if there are any gay players in the top 100. Maybe people think we know behind closed doors. Statistically speaking, there should be. But not that I know of. I feel like a player would be accepted. My friends and I, but also the other players on the tour would have no problem with it, it would be completely normal,” he noted first.
“I couldn’t tell you why (ed. note: no player has come out). Obviously, at any time, it would be big news and maybe people just don’t want to be in the spotlight,” he added.
